clembo, this may sound a bit far fetched by why not try filing a complaint with the FBI? This is clearly a case of deliberate fraud. And since it involves bank transfers and crosses state lines it's a federal offense. With others who have similar complaints it shows a pattern and it shows intent.

I say try it.

I would also file a police report with the local jurisdiction to which the merch. was shipped.

Interesting, very interesting all of this.
However, here is another wrinkle which happened to me. ONLY foresight saved my butt.
I sent a coin to the buyer after it was paid via paypal.
it was sent expressmail at my expense.
Delivery confirmation was on hand with a signature on line.
2 weeks later the buyer wanted to know when he could expect the coin...............
go figure.......
He claimed he received an empty envelope...
all that counted for ebay and PP is that the buyer complained that he did not receive the coin.NOT that I had a signature, like in SIGNED for by....
Needless to say I was not a happy camper and sent an email to the buyer via the ebay system.
I advised him in no uncertain words that I have a witness and pictures of the coin being packaged and sealed (truth, always do this with coins over $100), and that I will lay a complaint with the Police to investigate for possible fraud or theft.
Got an email the following day explaining that "his young son" somehow took the coin from the envelope when he was not watching......and that he now found it....
I let you guys be the judge on this one...
