Got these in change today - an English Oak 2013 £1 and a brown 2014 1p - the most 'honestly circulated' 2014 coin I've seen so far!

@allthe2ps
Naah, I found both undated 20p's right in the middle of the hype. One my old lady got in change from a bar and the other one I found in her 'splash dish' Every day I still check through the 20p's in her cash tray or cash bags (She's a bookie manager) and haven't found another since, although one was found a few weeks ago by someone who works for Changechecker, so they're still out there.
----
Found another "Copy" £1 fake today, plus a 2012 Handover £2, another Glasgow CWG 50p*
* I contacted the RM and was told they're still making the Glasgow 50p's, and according to a blog post, they expect to be minting around 5m !! :(

Oh wow , it must be the most travelled 2014 penny- did you keep it ? Meanwhile , I was once again at the self service checkout and today was one of those rare occasions when it gave out 2 pound coins and nicely enough I got these two ... ... its the first time I have got the DNA anniversary 2 pounds in circulation, its very hard to find for some reason I cant figure out..... and the St Pauls cathedral one was a joy to get , I love getting them in change especially the beat up ones !

I got this interesting 2p early this afternoon, interestingly enough another copper related event occured not long after ......anyway back to the coin I was quite intrigued since the N and part of the E in NEW was missing so I checked the thickness out of cuiosity and funny enough on the damaged area its was thinner than normal....the left area on the top reverse image corresponds to the right area on the obverse picture The diameter of the coin is exactly the same as any 2p. PMD or some kind of error ? Has anyone seen anything similar?

Interesting 2p - DaytR!
No - I didn't keep the brown 2014 1p. I did think about it, but then decided that in a few months there will be loads like that in circulation!
Yesterday I was selling some bric-a-brac and old books and records at a Car Boot Sale. I was just getting ready to pack up when a woman came by and bought a few small items. She asked if I minded if she paid me partly in pennies! She explained that she lived nearby, saw the sale was on, and emptied her money box and walked over! When I sorted out the money later. I found that she'd given me 74 pennies! I thought it would be fun to do a little survey of the dates:
1971 - 5 1974 - 1 1975 - 1 1976 - 2 1978 - 1 1979 - 2 1980 - 1 1983 - 1 1985 - 2 1986 - 1 1988 - 1 1990 - 1 1993 - 1 1996 - 2 1998 - 2 1999 - 2 2000 - 2 2001 - 4 2003 - 3 2004 - 3 2005 - 1 2006 - 5 2007 - 1 2008 - 5 (Portcullis reverse) 2008 - 2 (shield reverse) 2009 - 3 2010 - 3 2011 - 2 2012 - 4 2013 - 5 2014 - 5
19 bronze coins and 55 steelies! The single 1988 penny was in near MS with almost full lustre, and the 1974 one had traces of lustre but was a bit green. Nothing else unusual...

Quote: The single 1988 penny was in near MS with almost full lustre Was the woman customer who emptied her money box in her 40`s by any chance ?

During my last one-week visit to the UK, I found those coins;
-Golden Guinea 2 Pounds, -Charles Darwin 2 Pounds, -2012 and 2013 2 Pounds in mint condition, -2003 DNA 2 Pounds (circulated, of course) -a 2008 obverse, 2007 bridge design fake 1 Pound -Lots of 2,5 and 10 pennies all dated 2013 and 2014. -One of the olympic 50p's, has a sailing theme on it. Haven't checked exactly which one is that, but it's the only Olympic 50p I have come across. -2012 and 2013 Shield design 50p's. - 2 x 2007 Union 2 Pounds (It's a shame I spent one of them in a theatre in London!) - 2 x Guernsey 2p coins, 1990 and 2008. - 2 x 1980 near-mint two pennies (from one of those penny-machines in Brighton Pier!)
It seems like I had an interesting week!. If you wonder why so many different 2 Pounds, I can say that I use an Oyster card in London and always put a 20 Pounds note when I am loading a 5 or 10 Pounds to the card, and it gives a lot of coins back!:)

Numisrob : its a very nice design, I was hoping to get a second one from circulation too, but no luck. I got Darwin and Golden Guinea from the same oyster machine in Heathrow

Quote: I thought it would be fun to do a little survey of the dates Interestingly enough your survey also reveals another fascinating statistic , the proportion of bronze pennies to steel plated pennies . I saw around one bronze penny in every 4 pennies recently and based on your large sample size it looks like that might be the case

Just as well the title of this thread doesn't say "coin".... Old lady picked this up after someone tried to put it into a betting machine 5 or 6 times. Presumably it's a plastic childs toy copy ? A whole 3g lighter than the real thing (That weighs in at 3.3g)

RED - never seen one of those. It does look like play money!
I got my first two 2014 20p coins in change today, together, when I bought a coffee.

About a week ago I got an Olympic Canoeing 50p
I never bothered with collecting the Olympic 50ps as I thought the designs were bad, but I thought I might as well add this one to my collection seeing as I just got in change.
