Quote: This is the first 2019 10p I've had - a Loch Ness Monster one! Very nice!

Is it me or are the newer commemoratives ridiculously hard to find? I'm still missing 3 of the Beatrix Potter 50ps, and as for the newer £2 coins and them alphabet 10ps...probably got more chance of winning the lottery than getting all of them.

 - I am still missing the 2016 Shakespeare Comedy £2 (and have had no post-2016 £2 coin at all), and I haven't got the 2018 Peter Rabbit, Flopsy Bunny or Mrs Tittlemouse 50p's yet. I've had about 10 alphabet 10p's altogether and all but two were from pusher machines in amusement arcades - but often I go into the arcades and don't see any alphabet coins at all!

Probably the general non numismatic oriented public just see them and toss 'em in a drawer.

Believe it or not this is the rarest of all the £2 coins. 1999 £2 was never issued in any sets or in BU or proof issues. So the only way you could get these was from circulation. Yes there are thousands of these coins around but find one in UNC or even remotely close to it is almost impossible. These coins were simply overlooked and a true UNC specimen will fetch £100+. Mine isn't UNC but it's very close.

KK Undoubtedly fuelled by all these hyped up news articles. Met quite a few people who'll show me a common, heavily circulated, special design coin they got in their change from Tesco and be absolutely convinced it's worth a fortune. Same with all the hype about fivers starting with AA and whatnot, in spite of the fact that there is nearly 1 for every person in Britain and you could easily get a few by withdrawing £500 from the bank and going through them.

Everyone who comes across a "different" coin believes it a winning lottery ticket.

From the Facebook groups that I am a member of, many of the new circulation issues are being taken directly from the Post Office without ever making it to circulation since I have seen folks selling full bags of various 50 pence coins, full sets of A to Z coins, or they have a bunch of A to Z letters for sale at a £1 each.
I still have not seen a 1 pence, 2 pence, and standard 10 pence from 2017. Only 2019 coin found for me so far is the pound coin.
I got a 2018 letter C 10 pence coin from a co-worker who did not want it since it was not like the other 10 pence coins that they had.

Bit of a shame really, but then if I worked in a post office I'd probably be tempted to utilise the advantage a bit too. I know someone who worked in a bookies who told me some of her colleagues got full bags of undated 20p coins. Not entirely sure of how truthful she's being, but I guess it's definitely plausible. Just wish I'd have been there. I searched through thousands of 20ps hoping to get one but to this day never have.

I hate it when that happens! Happened to me last weekend with a Houses of Parliament 10p, reverse side up. I went back to the same machine yesterday but the coin was no longer visible... On the other hand, I spotted this one in another arcade and won it very easily, more or less breaking even on the 'transaction'...
