I have had a busy day at the World Banknote Fair in London. The dealers seemed friendly and I took lots of money with me. In fact it is the most money I ever spend in one go on any of my collecting...
I took a list and completed my British banknotes collection (every type with every signature) and the first few notes I thought were going to be the expensive purchases... as it turns out these were more reasonable than expected (but lower grade) and the cheaper items were more expensive (due to being end of runs, beginning of runs and high grade)
This first note has a few problems, it looks presentable but it has been pressed and the top cut is at a slight angle... so either miscut or trimmed. But it fills the hole and was reasonably priced.

This second note is better than it looks in the photo and wasn't cheap it cost me what I expected to pay for the £1 which I though would be the dear one.

This third one cost me a quarter of what I expected it too, but it is fairly low grade... I like these notes design and jumped on it a little too quickly, there is an ink mark on the reverse which I didn't spot and in truth had I been more patient I could have got a better one.

This next one I bought on a whim, I have a few white notes but no Ten denomination. This is very low grade which made it affordable and it is genuine (There are lots of Bernard notes in this Peppiatt signature which were issued by the Germans in an attempt to destabilise us during the war)

These next notes are early signatures and hard to come by in good grades. These aren't bad, a wave in the Catterns note but the Mahon one is nice. I had to ask all over there was only one dealer who had one.

I needed to fill the signatures on the early £50. These hurt me a bit, both desirable prefixes and perfect condition.

Similar situation with these £20 notes. The Fforde note had a very low issue number and was tricky to find, again only one at the whole fair and I had to do plenty of asking to find it.

Filled in the £10 nightingale series with a couple of mint notes which aren't overly hard to find.

And filled my fives too with this last note, costing way more than I expected to spend due to the serial (99C prefix)

I can't quite figure why some of these photo's got so small in the optimisation process but it gives you the idea.
