When I saw the obverse of this note at the fall coin show, I knew I had to pick it up. It's a 2004 Madagascar 1000 Ariary (P-89c). The obverse has an adorable Black-and-White Ruffed Lemur, an Aye-Aye, and a Ploughshare Tortoise. The reverse has, as Numista puts it, "various succulents from Madagascar." The Bank Note Museum says they are susal and cactus.

That 1000 Ariary (5000 Francs) from Madagascar is gorgeous. It really makes me want to see a lemur. I have only seen a few primates in the wild (in Costa Rica, Gibraltar & the Philippines). Seeing your note reminds me of this thread on primates started a while back.

I like that George Best note, it's very dynamic! The 2018 £5 banknote is lovely, though, especially that peaceful reverse design.

-Thanks! I actually really like notes with super simple back designs. I know they have to have their serials, signatures, etc, but having a back design as just one image is really cool (IMO) & have not seen it very often.

I just received another package with another note missing! Jeez, I guess I am going to have to stop buying so many banknotes!

Here's a few from Bulgaria. The first is a trio of very inexpensive low denominations that feel more like advertising glossy paper than a typical cotton/rage banknote (lots of texture):

The 3 notes are diminutive but not as small as this 1950 20 Leva (P-79):

which is 81 × 46 mm (about the size of a large postage stamp).

Sometimes simpler is better, especially in this age of modern banknotes with a myriad of security features.

Very nice additions! I've been eyeing the newer 20 Leva for the reverse image of a church.

I'll go ahead and post my last three pick-ups from the fall coin show, starting with this 2006 Trinidad and Tobago 1 Dollar (P-46). The obverse has a Scarlet Ibis, while the reverse shows the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago. I'd pick to add the rest of this series for their bird motifs.

Next up is a 2004 Uganda 500 Shillings (P-35a). The obverse elephant sold me on this inexpensive note. The reverse features the Makerere University Ivory Tower.

Lastly, a 2010 Zambia 100 Kwacha (P-38i). The obverse has a majestic African Fish Eagle, while the reverse shows an African buffalo head, Victoria Falls, and the Freedom Statue.

Thanks @scopru & @CollegeBarbers

This 10 Zaires note was what I was after. Zaire was the Democratic Republic of Congo between 1971-1997 and the note features Mobutu the military dictator at the time. It is P-24b & is quite large & is sometimes difficult to find in UNC (lots of these 1970's notes have foxing):
