Red Book lists most kennedy proofs at a $5 list prices is this generally what everyone else pays, or are they commonly found CRH?

They can be found CRHing but it is not really a common occurrence and the vast majority of those found will be impaired proofs and not worth much over face value(unless silver)

Early 70's proofs can be found quite easily roll searching, often in terrible condition though. Most common impaired clad proofs go for around a dollar on CCF, the less commonly found ones such as from the 90's and the 2000's go for more depending on the date. The 97's would probly be the best bet, I would think you might be able to get ~$10 for one in au condition. The better the condition the easier it is to sell.

You can get Kennedy Proofs below Red Book on ebay. Davenders is a great store. A lot of their "buy it now" prices are less than Red Book plus they run a lot on 99 cent auctions. They also have a flat $2.95 shipping rate which is great and free shipping for a purchase over $50.
