1984 $1 Misstruck. - Coin Community Forum

spd_dmn New Member Australia 35 Posts	Posted 06/08/2006 03:58 am I was shown a 1984 $1 coin today that had the obverse almost completely missing, ie. as though it had been worn down. But the reverse was a good strike, very detailed. My mate got this coin a long time ago, he couldn't remember exactly but it was from a source that always had new coins in change. What we want to know is if this coin is a genuine misstrike or could it have just been worn with sandpaper, etc? There are no scratches or such to suspect the later. Unfortunately I cannot get a picture, as I have neither a digicam or scanner. Any ideas would be great, thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

madbudgie0 Valued Member Australia 109 Posts	Posted 06/09/2006 05:23 am spd_dmn - I'm certainly not a professional about is and far from it, but I have better success with a digital camera, although this is also hard for me to get right. But all of my pictures currently on this forum have been taken with a camera, I only use a scanner for notes! Report this Post to the Staff
