Terry: I posted this over on the variety & error forum I'm seeing notching/split seriffs, but is it legit or wear? What do you think on this 71d FEV- DDO? Chuck.

Chuck, Dude, Do not tell me that you found that in your Bank find. I think I'll have a heart attack. VERY NICE wide splits on the serifs, and the doubling rides up into the letters themselves and appears to be rounded in the photos not flat and shelf like which would indicate a strike doubled coin. Definitely a DDO and one of the widest serif spreads I have seen on an Ike in a long time. And on an 1971- D FEV (RDV-006) to boot Very well done Chuck. You know where else you have to post that right? The Ike Group Guys would love to see that. Along with full shots of the Obverse and Reverse. Just WOW and Congratulations Terry

Latest purchase on ebay. 1971D FEV- I don't think the seller knew that this was a FEV I got this for $2.74 total, including S&H! *I'm not sure if if that's the remnants of the shuttle or not, but other die markers are there that confirm this is a FEV.* 2 over flow crater lines between the N & E of cent, 2 long lines bracketing the second L of dollar, chain of islands , no browline on the Eagle.

Do those FEV have any value? I have two of them, but don't really know what to do with them.

Nod anywhere from $4.00 in XF40 up to $670 for MS66 Like all coins depends on the condition. Most I have seen run between AU50 $10.00 and MS63 $30.00 and this is guide prices. Chuckster, Congratulations my friend on the E-bay Cherry pick of the FEV Love finding them on there. Once you learn all 11 naked eye die markers it is easier to pick them off. because of differing lighting on e-bay photos. Which as we all know is Very Very Good Photos (NOT) Terry

Thanks Terry! Updated info- that's a scratch not the shuttle ( TheIkeGroup also verified it's not the shuttle, but it is a FEV!) *My 1971D FEV DDO / DDR was delivered to Dr Wiles on Wednesday, Sept 1st, so hopefullly I'll be hearing from him within the next week. I'll post results asap.*

Strikercups, It is getting harder and harder to find Ike's at banks anymore. Except for Chuckster 125 he has the Ikester Touch As far as the 1978 gold colored Dollar without a picture it is difficult to tell. But Best guess would be that it was either Gold plated as a novelty or toned up goldish colored due to the environment it was stored in.

Here is a good example of what can happen to an Eisenhower dollarwhen not store in a coin friendly environment. Found it among some others in one of those $1.25 Ike bins. What stood out to me was the very clean fields and lack of hits from other coins . Which is very hard to find on the 71-P's I thought it would be a good candidate to test the EZ-EST with. I have never used it before. But I have been hearing that it works well without hurting the surface of the coin. Terry Edited to add photos (oops)

From the pictures it looks like the Gold color is just on the reverse. I would say it was poorly stored and and obtained that coloring. But then again I am just a rookie with these Ike's and could be wrong.
