I know this is an old thread, but I have to ask, and being Canadian I find this VERY amusing: What the H - e - double - hockey stick is "ice hickey"?

But "ICE HICKEY"? I mean, I know about Ice HOCKEY, but not this weird HICKEY thing. A hickey was something your girlfriend gave you in grade 7.

Famous people with "coins'.......hummmm.

Well.....I did hear that the semi-famous comedian Katt Williams, was charged with burglary and criminal trespassing, for breaking into a home and stealing some coins ? .... Does that count ?.......no....probably not.....I bet the police returned the coins to the owner !

I know John McCain carried a "lucky Penny" on the campaign trial....err...excuse me "trail" .....not "trial"....but either word works !
Here's an article about it for those interested:

Sorry to drag this one back up, but I did not want to start a new topic.

I was just watching today's Penn Point (Penn Jillette's video blog).

He was showing off his belt buckle, which belonged to his father. It holds a 1922 Peace dollar (Penn referred to it as a 1922 Liberty Head coin). He said that his father eventually retired from a job as a correctional officer and opened up a coin shop, adding that his father was a lifelong numismatist.

His father might not be famous, but I think most people know who Penn Jillette is, or at least are familiar with Penn & Teller.

I think his name is Richard Moll? from the sitcom Night Court

His buddy Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) also collected coins along with rare books and has been seen at rare coin shows.

I was watching the latest episode of Traffic Light last night. Jimmie Walker had a guest spot in the beginning. He was looking old (I still watch reruns of Good Times, so I still see him as a much younger J.J.) so I looked up his bio on Wikipedia to find out how old he was now. In the article I found this interesting tidbit...

Quote:
As a young man, Walker was a vendor at Yankee Stadium, starting with the 1964 World Series. He was given a Silver dollar by Mickey Mantle that he still owns.

I'm confused. Aren't you a member now? Sure act like one of us.
Just what do you mean SOON? Why not now?
Posts like this always make me wonder just how far back coin collecting REALLY got started. Imagine the cave people carving coins out of rocks and some kid collecting the small ones.

And the coin-rocks they didn't like as much, could have doubled as stuff to throw at enemy tribes

I don't think I would have ever guessed that these two people ever collected coins.
