I have a few 1776-1976 Silver Dollars and the one's with S mint mark
weigh 24.5 grams and the others around 22.5 (P&D) Is there a reason?

s mint marks were only minted in proof. and they were part silver and the p and D's were just clad

In 1975 and 1976, there were eight different Eisenhower dollars minted with the 1776-1976 Dual Dates. 1976 Type 1 Cu-Ni 1976 Type 2 Cu-Ni 1976-D Type 1 Cu-Ni 1976-D Type 2 Cu-Ni 1976-S Type 1 Cu-Ni proof 1976-S Type 2 Cu-Ni proof 1976-S 40% Silver uncirculated (part of three piece silver uncirculated set) 1976-S 40% Silver proof (part of three piece silver proof set) The Cu-Ni coins weigh ~22.7 grams and the 40% silver weigh ~24.6 grams. |

Another question regarding IKE's - for common dates - what is an expected price to pay above face value? I ask because I saw a guy at a flea market with a tub of them for $1.75 each. I don't know much about them, so I didn't mess with 'em.

$1.75 is probably around average. I have seen the "bargain bins" at coin shows run anywhere from face to $2 each.

I can sell them for 1.20 a piece but only in 1000 dollar lots.

My 1776-1976 weigh 24.6 Grams and have the Big letters in STATES
Would be a type 2

the bold letters is type 1. check this link HERE it has a picture of both type 1 and type 2 |
