The speared buffalo has been officially accepted as an error and the last I heard only around 900 had been accounted for. They were all found in east Texas area and I was fortunate enough to actually buy two from the original finder of the error. Do I think it is a fad? NOPE not this one but I do believe a bunch of other minor errors that have been dreamed up will ever go anywhere.

Old Dan I don't own them all YET but will continue to expand the herd every chance I get!!! Its the ones in Wyoming that are so hard to get a hold of hidden away in those hills and hollars!!!

They were first found in bank rolls in Texas I believe. Here is a thread by the discoverer as she(Neptune) discovered them.

I hope someone finally told neptune what they actually had there, because I didnt see anyone stepping up in the forum to inform him even though he clearly stated he knew nothing about errors

Interesting situation, however I personally have just never been able to get excited about errors.

Me neither Gary! If I were collecting new cars, I sure wouldn't want one with a crease in the fender.

She fueled and kept the hype machine running. Can't say I blame her she was proud of her discovery. But it is just a die gauge. I can't knock it thou cause I think the high and low leaf quarters are cool. We all enjoy what we want. Here is one of her signature series auctions.

Actually SHE is a genius as she refused offers from major dealers in the U.S. to market them for her and did it all here self. She also kept her mouth shut when she found the error and kept looking from bank to bank to build her stash before going public. Actually I have had conversations with this lady and you wouldn't believe what she has gone through since the story broke. Keep in mind quite a few folks were NOT happy with her stroke of luck. I admire what she has done and how she has done it and feel very fortunate to have gotten the Speared Buffalo coins for my son and I. It does appear they are holding their value if not going up since I made my purchases which is a good sign as most Americans usually lose interest in a matter on months and move on to the next "big" numismatic release or find. It was a very fun first half of the year (2005) being such an avid buffalo fan!

Maybe this coin since for some odd reason the American public loves Buffalos therefore it's price will always go up not down.

Hey Crystalk have you noticed in the siginture yours says "Buffalo Hunter" while mine says "Buffalo Protector"
