if you are in good with the bank tellers or manager they can order you bags of coins at face value (or atleast they used to be able to because my grandfather used to buy 4 bags a month of Susan B Anthony dollars when they were being made) so if you do get in good with one of them it wouldn't hurt to atleast ask. I think we have a bank teller on this forum and maybe they will chime in to let us know if this practice is still followed or not

Don't think that will happen now Bryan1315 as the coins are, for the most part, rolled by the Federal Reserve or the armored car services. You would have to check with your bank for sure but I think those days are gone.

I was just looking at the bag of 500 nickels from the mint. Face value 25.00, for sale 45.95. Why do they charge double? Is buying a bag like that your best chance to find errors?

I'd rather spend the extra $25 on coins than a bag...
