Thanks for the feedback. I will most likely get mine slabbed. I have been watching the coin shows and it is silly what they are charging. They are already charging $1199 for a slabbed proof - MS70.

I think they are only charging $999 for the proof itself. I love the dialog where they insist they are selling at such low prices. So if my proof comes back at MS70 I will be happy. Never having slabbed one before..what are the chances my proof will be MS70?

well if you are sending it to PCGS there is about a 60% chance it will come back 69dcam if you are sending it to NGC there is a 80% it will come back 70 ultra cameo the rest I am not sure about but PCGS is alot more reluctant to give moderns the full "Perfect" score, and I think the main reason is because they like keeping their population reports lower that way their PR70's can sell for alot more money then their competitors. In my opinion one would be hard pressed to find a better looking coin than these in any holder, so if you are buying the coin and not the holder I think NGC is more accurate even though their population reports shows a much higher number of PF70's

$50-Buffalo-24k-Gold

I bet if a Jack Lee or Norweb submitted any of the PR69's they graded to PCGS they would have made the 70 grade

This is the 1st coin I have ever spent this much money on.

How uch do they cost right now any way 800 bucks right I'm thinking of saving money to buy one

Just received notification from the Mint that my order will be shipped on the 28th of June. Guess they have the backlog solved for now.

I think the NGC % is actually much lower than that. Example...for every 2006 Silver Eagle that I saw as a 70, I saw about 20 69's. I don't play the "slab the modern coin" game myself but I know a few other dealers that do and they've always got tons of 69's to unload.

personally, I can't really tell the difference between a 69 and a 70 if you cover up the label, and I highly doubt that many other people can tell the difference. Then again, if you get a 70 grade back, it'll be worth somewhat more than other people's 69's.

my estimate was really a Guesstimate, I know NGC isn't ashamed to give it the 70 grade if they feel it deserves it no matter what it does to their population report, I think PCGS just refuses to give coins the 70 grade just so they can keep their population reports on the low side so they can keep the investors happy

Dan,
I was lucky enough to get my order in on the day of issue .The mint did say in their confirmation email my coins were backordered and would ship in July. Were you notified by the mint when they will ship your coins in the confirmation email or did they send you another email saying when they would ship your coins?
Thanks,
