I was searching through the hoard that I bought here on CC and I found this odd coin. The back looks fine, so I have no idea what happened to it. I found one from the 80s that looks similar.

Any ideas?

I'll post pics of the back later. I can't convey it in pictures, but the surface is wavy like a finger print, but embedded in the metal. The back is perfect, nearly FS.

I was thinking it looks as if it was exposed to extreme high heat. Possibly a torch-like flame on the obverse.

i have a penny that looks exactly like that. the general consensus was acid dipping, so I'm guessing you'll get a similar response to this one.
