Bryan1315 Bedrock of the Community United States 14454 Posts	Posted 07/10/2006 12:32 am I have a dilemma here, I collect 1878 varieties and one of the ebay sellers that regularly pushes these single person grading companies coins that I swore I would never buy from them to support them ever, well I look through 1878's everytime one is added on ebay and other auction sites (I have ebay send me emails everytime a 1878 is put up for auction) well low and behold this seller puts up a variety I have never seen before. So I am between a rock and a hard place here because I do not want to support this dealer at all but I really want this coin. Do I back down off of my moral high horse and buy the coin or do I stick to my guns and just let the coin slip away and maybe never find another one like it? I am actually thinking of just letting the coin slip away because I dont know if I could live with myself knowing I supported him pushing his junk, what would you do in this situation? TLS5933 Pillar of the Community United States 1703 Posts	Posted 07/10/2006 04:44 am Bryan, I think if its a coin you want and he is not representing it as something its not and you get it for a fair noninflated price,you should buy it.Maybe if the seller sees a buyer is willing to buy a coin for its true value and not over rated low grade coins he will start selling more of them.Your not really supporting his selling of over rated junk if you not buying his over rated junk. Of course you can always tell him (in a friendly way) after the sale why you bought the coin and how you feel about certain coins from certain grading services. What he spent in the last week takes me a couple of months to earn and then at that I have to pay bills with most of that. Oh its is just in a generic slab as a 1878 7TF has no mention of the VAM nor does the price even come close to what the R-7 coin is worth. The price is more along the lines of a raw ms-60 1878 7TF and its atleast a 64 coin even though the plastic says its alot higher grade than that Report this Post to the Staff

You're probably gonna pay a lot less than as if it were properly certified, slabbed, and authenticated, so you're not gonna be supporting a one-person grading company; you'll actually be contributing to his downfall for being stupid enough to try to peddle a coin for which he has no idea of its true nature nor value.
