Thanks for the feedback!

Coins are in the mail guys! You caught me just in time on my way to work! I hope they are worthy of your collections!

I kinda like the "2nd guess" rule, not sure about allowing duplicates. I think I'd rather expand the list and number to pick. But, we'll see!

If you wanted to make it longer, you could allow the possibility of having multiple instances of the same currency,

I also like nod's idea, too. Vastly increases the possible solutions, and the strategy I used to solve this wouldn't even have worked.

That would increase the number of start up options to 13 to the 7th power (provided that we need to choose from 13 currencies), or 62,748,517 outcomes.

By the way, what do you do that involves fractals?

I teach Math at a college. Can't you tell?

Good for you! I have a tremendous amount of respect for teachers and professors!

I seen a program on Discovery or The Learning Channel or something where fractals are starting to be used in 3-D programming/animation. Just wondered if you were in one of those fields. Fascinating stuff, those fractals.

Now if I can just figure out how to apply them to my currency trading...

Nonetheless, different guessing strategies could still narrow down the possible answers pretty quickly, correct? Guesses containing 7 different symbols towards the beginning of the game would provide the least amount of feedback.

Absolutely! For example, choosing

NZD, NZD, NZD, NZD, NZD, NZD, NZD

would either confirm the presence of this currency or wipe it off the list, which would narrow down your options considerably.

I was thinking something along the lines of a similar guess:

NZD, NZD, NZD, NZD, NZD, NZD, USD

If answer is 1/0, assume USD is in the list, and NZD isn't.

If the answer is 1/1, assume NZD is in the list, and USD isn't.

Employ similar assumptions based on other possible answers given. But in this game format, with several people guessing, having a logical progression from one guess to the next goes out the window.

Not necessarily, 1/0 still leaves the possibility that NZD is on the list and in the last position. And 1/1 leaves USD as being in the right place.

Scooby, by "assume", I mean that the odds are in heavily in that favor...point the next guesses in that direction hoping to confirm that and learn something new.
