Mods/admins - please feel free to move to the appropriate section. I posted it here because it involves a few long time members having an issue with a particular seller that listed items for sale in this area. With that said, what do CCF members do to alert others of a potential bad seller here on CCF? We list bad ebay sellers on this forum, so is it safe to assume that we should list bad trades here on CCF? We're mostly adults here so I would think any disputes can be worked out between both sides but I am talking about a situation where a member listed some items for sale, claims to have shipped them (but didnt provide tracking info or a shipping method) and the items should have arrived already. This particular member is not replying to emails asking for info so at what point is it fair game for us to alert other CCF members about our bad experience? We want to protect each other right? So if I am overstepping my bounds, please tell me so, but I highly doubt that myself and a couple others are the only ones to ever have issues with trades done here. The feedback I am talking about us being to leave is when all hope is lost, and the seller took your money and ran. I'm not talking about the grey area issues where a seller might list a grade of EF-40 and the coin is a VF-20 in the eye of the buyer. That's a subjective matter, and I'm not sure that we want to have clutter from disputes involving subjective matters. Thoughts? Ideas?

I suggest a list of good and bad sellers. I assume most will be on the positive side yet it creates a clear message against abuse of the forum trust.

My thoughts ...... This is a serious subject and deserves the input from the collective 'family'. Nobody wants to be 'taken' .... and I certainly agree that proven shenanigans with respect to sales should be called out after private methods to resolve the issue have failed. The vast majority of members go out of there way to be respectful of others when posting items for sale. Hence ... my recent post in this section on my motivation for selling. https://goccf.com/t/64341That said .... there are also occasions where life demands may conspire to keep an otherwise honest member from meeting their obligations ..... refer to this post about the 'absence' of a seller whom I am sure folks are waiting on coins from: https://goccf.com/t/64448I think we can all agree that slamming Malissa for 'non-delivery' in light of xshift news would be ..... well .... troubling. Somehow we need to strike a proper balance between 'calling out the guilty' and unintended consequences for information unknown. I'd hate to see this great forum degenerate to a E-Pray style feedback ..... but I also respect and appreciate the concerns of the OP. I'm staying tuned for other opinions.  David

I would hate if our community became too focused on buying/selling/trading and turned into ebay or craigslist.

It is an important aspect and incentive to many of the members here, and a possible scammer should not be taken lightly. Coinhunter, to be honest I think something has either happened to him or he is too busy and has not been able to ship the package. My package from the same seller did arrive after a couple weeks and your package should too.

I agree with this statement, but I dont think there is much focus on on the buy/sell area. Personally I use it when I am looking to acquire pieces for my collection and sometimes when I am picking up something for a buddy of mine that is not a CCF member. In some cases, individual trades involve hundreds of dollars and I think most of us have certain expectations for the level of communication, the promptness in shipping, the care in shipping, and communicating the shipping date, method and tracking number to the buyer. If any of those levels break down, but I get the product I paid for, then I can live with it without feeling the need to say much. It's when the product isn't arriving as promised and the seller is not communicating, and it's affecting multiple members that it becomes a problem. I won't go into much detail, but I can tell you that there are others besides myself that are very frustrated with one particular seller on here because the communication has stopped and the products have not arrived when they should have (based on the shipping date that was told by the seller). Right now we do not have a clear "if-then" protocol that we should follow if someone does hold up their end of a trade, whether it's the buyer or seller. I fully understand that all deals in the trade area are done at our own risk, but I also think it would be irresponsible of anyone who got burned by another CCF member to sit back and not communicate this to others. That's what this thread is about. It's not about expanding the buy/sell area to something on the level of ebay or Craigslist. I hope you're right, however I was told it was shipped on a certain day and honestly the products should have arrived by now. When I asked for a ship method/tracking number, my emails went unanswered. It was also brought to my attention that the seller originally listed x qty of a particular item, and I bought and paid for all of them, and then 2 more of that particular item were sold at the same time to another member. So I hope you see why a few of us are concerned. I hope it's something as simple as the seller was sent away on an unexpected business trip, but in the age of the internet/iPhone/Blackberry/etc I don't know that there's any excuse for not being able to check and respond to emails at least once in the past 9-10 days. I'm keeping my fingers crossed a portion of what I bought I am picking up on behalf of a non-CCF member so he is counting on me and trusting in my judgement to get this the products he paid for to him.

I would like to add my 2-cents.
I buy many, many things from this forum, the active auctions and the things you would like to sell, I have NEVER had an issue I did not have work out to date, I have been buying for almost 2-Years.
I do think like stated before, we are mostly adults and should be able to communicate our needs and thoughts, but life sometimes gets in the way of all of this from happening and things go "not according to plans'.
I have had some problems on the "bay" and I would hate to think this forum, I like to call a home, would become a problem with someone giving their word and NOT following through with their promise to whom ever.
I do think there should be an area for comments about dealings with the members here for both the buyers and sellers, for ALL concerned, this could only help in keeping things and people "flying straight".
I also would not want to see the forum become an arena for problematic, frustrated people spewing all sorts of accusations. This is just my opinion, I have ( on the bay ) had some very slippery people try to get over on me and, well it did not feel nice at all, I also feel we have a few things no one can take from us and our word is one of them!!!!

Selling on here is a privilege. If someone doesn't feel comfortable then don't sell or buy, it's that simple. Moved to Support Section

I've seen some posts here in BST where members asked where their purchases were. I had assumed there was a problem with this seller.
Time and communication are key. I buy and sell on 2 coin forums and have never had a problem and maybe have gotten too trusting but still use common sense on every BST transaction.
I don't know how long you've been waiting but if it's been over a month then PM the mods with your concerns. After just reading the thread about Malissa I'd hate to see members called out by name.

Well, sometimes we do list positive transactions, but it's on a per-purchase or per-auction basis. And entirely voluntary. I'm one of those guilty of not usually saying something when the transaction is over, simply because a good transaction here is assumed (as opposed to other places). I *have* made a comment or two, but not many.
Some sellers offer references, and freely give them if asked. Older auction threads could be searched to see who won, and you could always PM the winner or buyer to ask how the transaction went. But that's all pre-purchase and doesn't help at this point of the transaction.
Yes, life can get in the way. Heaven forbid, so can accidents or emergencies. I wouldn't expect someone to get excited about not being able to send a package to me if their house just burned down. Know what I'm saying? There does come a time where all avenues have been exhausted though, and at that point you could always ask a moderator. They are not the auction/buy-sell-trade police but they may know something that has occurred, or some other information that would be helpful.
If you paid with paypal you could try to request a refund, if nothing gets solved any other way. Or stop payment on a check.

I've never called anyone out here for sending something contrary to the description or for packaging badly - I just chalked it up to a learning experience and will never buy from them again. One transaction was not enough for me to blacken someone's selling name... because we are a tight-knit community, something like that would be the kiss o' death to doing any trade/sale here. It's not the same as a few-hundred-dollar transaction, though. Also keep in mind that if your package was coming from overseas anywhere, there's a lot that can keep it from showing up in a timely manner. Just like all that ash in Europe probably made any mail from there take the slow boat, there's customs holdups, etc, that could create major delays.

We often send emails to people so that they are not embarrassed in public, but if things get out of hand we have found that at times discipline must be used.
We do not want to publish a list of "bad sellers" We would like to see issues resolved between members and if necessary staff will intervene.
We do not want to be ebay or anything like unto it.
We have in the past had to divorce some of the members of our family and other had to be sent to their rooms for a while.
Summary: Play nice if not you will find that you will be playing on another field.

Every sale or trade has it's own topic. That is the place for feedback. There is no other better feedback system on the planet. What other venue would let you write a term paper on your transaction if you wanted to? The search function here works awesome now. It would take about 3 minutes to check out your trading partners history and make a decision to deal with them or not.

All it takes is one bad apple to turn off potential buyers, which unfortunately is unfair to some of the sellers here. At least with ebay, there is some buyer protection if paying with Paypal. Buying through this forum doesn't afford that protection so you're right about not buying and selling. I was comfortable buying on this forum until this latest issue, and I do not plan to do any more buying on this forum. So just to clarify, am I reading this correctly in that feedback in the particular thread where the transaction took place has no bounds or limits (besides the obvious of revealing personal info about the parties involved)? In other words, if I were to write a diatribe that included the facts of the trade, it won't get deleted or modified by the mods/admins and I will not be banned by the mods/admins for describing what happened? Just so the record is straight, I am not trying to stir the pot here nor am I trying to make libelous remarks about anyone. I am a straight shooter and will tell it like it is in an objective manner. How individuals interpret what I say is up to them, but as I mentioned earlier I think it would be irresponsible for me or anyone else that has a no communication/no delivery/money was taken issue to not at least bring this to the attention of other CCF members. Ok I've said my piece for today...lol.

I'll point out the obvious here.....the 50 post minimum to participate in the B/S/T forum is a pretty low barrier of entry. Unless the dollar amount is insignificant I'm very leery of buying from anyone with a low post count, or from someone that has run up a large post count in a short period of time.

Increasing the post count to buy/sell is a good way to weed out the shady people, but it also makes it more difficult for new people, like myself, to buy/sell. I just like coins and what better place to buy or trade coins then on a coin forum? I was able to do a couple of transactions before the post count went up and all the transactions I participated went great, except for the last one where I got scammed out of $350. As a reward for my misfortune, I can no longer sell stuff on here, even though, if you ask anyone who I have had a transaction with, I am an honest person. Am I the only one that sees something wrong with that?
