So I've got a theory. I'm going to hawaii tomorrow to visit family. I'm gonna do some light roll searching while I'm there. my theory is that the islands will have gotten just as much silver coinage as any other state, but those coins will be less likely to leave the islands. pocket change will easily cross state lines up here in the upper 48, but are more likely to be stuck on the islands. I'm hoping that the concentration of silver might be higher there than here.

You need to take into account the roll searchers that live in Hawaii.. I know several...

Dunno. But it's definitely worth looking. You would think though that over this period of time the few searchers there may be would have picked it clean. I think the only reason we find it in the 48 is cause of the massive amounts still tied up in the bank systems, and the occasional hoard dump.
Good luck though!

Good luck with that theory. Let us know how that goes.

I can't believe you're going to HI and roll searching even crosses your mind.

I'm with RPT. Looking at coins would be at the bottom of my list if I was in HI.

lol some of us are more "dedicated" than others. And by dedicated, I of course mean addicted. Just noticed.. if that had one more "E" it would be an anagram. :O

But the corollary to that theory would be that since the coinage was less likely to leave the islands, less silver coinage would have had to have been sent there in the first place.

I'm not a big fan of HI, we go too often. Don't like the heat and humidity. When I was younger, all I did was spend all day surfing. Plus, we'll be staying with family so I can take my time searching

cool theory interested in how it goes my theory may hold a little more weight I like to drive out of the suburbs where I live and into the really poor city areas to get my coins I have found a little higher concentration of wheat pennies and older coins there seeing how people might need the money more and spend any change they have rather then hold onto anything for the future anyone else find that one? I have so never done a box just separate rolls, so that could also help me in the unusual number I come across unlike some of the numbers you guys turn up

I know take your roll searching with you to the beach. Now that would show how addicted you are!
