There was nothing for me to work with this morning before work. I can't work on it here - waaaay too busy. I'm hoping it doesn't get solved before I have a chance to put a pencil to it!

Quote: Scooby .. put a pencil to it! I have a spreadsheet I enter to display all of the guesses and answers. I would need a few extra erasers if I had to use a pencil. Much easier to hit delete and retype. Now if only I could make it smart enough to pick a winner.

Quote: That would take all the fun out of it The real fun would be writing it (I love to program), and proving it worked. I would never use it in an actual contest even if I ever had the time to actually write it. Of course, if I spent less time playing I would have time to write it, but then I'd lose all the way around. No, I'll stick to a few simple formulas in the sheet itself to check my new guess against the others. No macros. No magic. Hmm... but then again.... considering how someone here is so good at the game, it might help give me a better chance. ... Naah, fun is in the figuring as much as the winning.

lol, no wonder I need a spreadsheet, I still can't count to 12 without messing it up.

Yeah.. I use a spreadsheet to list the guesses and number right/right position because my handwriting gets out of alignment when I'm cross-checking my next guess . Sometimes I do have it sort alphabetically if I'm stuck, so I can see a different way to look at the guesses, but that's it.
