My wife has developed a bit of a friendship with the bank she deals with regularly. She mentioned that I collect coins and her usual bank person said to make a list for her of things I wanted and she would try to get them for me! What a great problem to have....

So what should I put on the list?

I was stumped. I don't want the list to be too long or complicated. I just want to maximize my potential for loot.

You kind folks have any thoughts?

-Silver or large dollar coins

-Bills with funny colored seals or small faces

-Coin rolls in old wrappers

-Unusual looking coins.

That should cover about everything. I can't think of an old coin or bill not covered by that list.

Paul has a good list!

I would add to it any 2009 and 2010 coins, since many people are having a difficult time finding the new releases. If you are not one of them, then ignore what I just said.

What a great source. Be sure to reward the teller. They can't take money, so other goodies are in order.

Great suggestion Neil. I know I work harder when presented with baked goods.

I'm the opposite...I stop working when presented with baked goods.

Any foreign coins also, Banks tend to throw these out. I have gotten a lot of 55-81 Canadian Nickels this way and some silver.

I like Paul's list. It's short and covers pretty much everything.
