I use 145-150 for coppers and 175-180 for zincs, as a general rule of thumb. Give or take.

How many are in a pound?

At 3.1 grams per copper cent, there are 146.32 cents per pound. I usually go with a rounded up 150(3 rolls), which really comes out to about 1.025 pounds. Melt value at the time of this post, which seems to becoming a topic of intrest lately, would be about $3.24 for 3 rolls, or $1.08 per roll. Forgive my rambling, just a little bored.

? 900 in a pound? ?
I say old fellow, your math skills are lacking.
Although inflation may make it feel that way sometimes, cent pieces have not physically shrunk as much as they have lost in value.

Nice score there

Going through that many coins will be a lot of fun. Be sure to get a bunch of plastic tubes to store the bu coins in. You should be able to make a lot of really great sets out of them. Best wishes on your search! Sincerely, John Leckrone
