Now that you have a bit of an idea, do you know what price they are being offered to you for? If so, are you happy with the price offered?

No idea of price as of yet. I'll hopefully at least get an idea before I go and see them. Whatever they have, i'll try and make sure they get a fair price. It does appear the current owners don't really care at all about them and just want them gone, so we will see...

I would not be interested in driving 700 miles to find out the coins are overpriced & or corroded. I wouldn't try to negotiate a final price sight unseen but I'd definitely want to know what the starting price is before I got in the car.

Iv'e got my friend on the other end working on that, so far the impression is they don't hold much value for the current owners - I'm hoping he can get some pictures to email me, on the basis of which I could hopefully make an offer. Also as I write this, just found a courier that will move the 210KG for just £42. So if I can just get those pictures, perhaps via my Friend I wont have to make any trips. Hopefully Ill get a clearer idea shortly, i'll keep the thread posted.

Hope you enjoy them if you get them, that should keep you busy for a long time. It's a little much for me.

Well finally got an update - unfortunately, decided against it in the end. The few pictures I got confirmed they were fairly junky - a little currency, but not a lot worth bothering with. Although they could be had relitively cheaply, all things considered time to sort probably not worth it. Thanks everyone for your input!

How 'junky' were they? Just the fun alone would be worth it for me I don't buy world bulk thinking I'll hit the jackpot. But then, you're going into business as a dealer, so you were probably looking for some better ones. Too bad they probably would not want to ship to the US.

They were fairly junky - lots of pre euro types, nearly all later 20th century with only a few exceptions. Also what helped tip the balance I've been fortunate enough to get some great lots at auction and fairs over the past week, so rather spend the time and money on those. I could enquire with them on sorting out shipping to US - for the price of shipping 1/5 of a metric tonne however, I really doubt would be worth your while!
