Peter, those are some truly sweet finds. Yes becoming friends with bank tellers is a classic way to acquire old notes for face value. It is perhaps one of the few jobs where you see old currency more so than being a cashier. Problem for me is my bank was built less than a year ago and I haven't gotten that friendly yet with the tellers.
Now going to the bank for change especially packs of $1 bills used to be a good way to find some 1957 $1 S.C.s once awhile. Although nowadays I haven't found one in a pack for a long time.

I'd say that most regular people today would most likely not think twice about depositing series 1950 FRN bills to the bank since at first glance they look like any other small head portrait bill. However they are definitely worth keeping especially at face value.

thanks for sharing Peter!

bishftl, wow you owe your teller friend big time. Even though that 1934A $1000 is quite beaten up, still has some premium on it over the $1000 face value.
What a great find!

I recently found a 1969 $5 and a 1935 A silver certificate $1. I was really shocked by finding the silver certificate.

Bassmaster, the 1935 A is a more desirable series as well. The only thing better would be a plain 1935 $1 S.C. Surprised you found one in the wild, thats quite rare!

I can't give scans at the moment as my mother has the USB cord for her scanner, but here's a rundown of some of my old currency.

$1 Silver Certs
1935-E P49111261H
1957-B *25852631B, my oldest star.

$1 FRN
2x 1963-A
10x 1963-B Barr note (I get these a LOT, but I save them just for the heck of it)
1x 1969-A
1x 1969-B
1969 G00578010*

And a $10 FRN, 1950-A

This wasn't in my change but a friend of mine was down on his luck and needed money for a bar tab around $20. He gave me this bill that was his grandfather's from Italy during WWII. I know its a 1935 A series. my first question is would it be worth $20? The second one is why did he get it in Italy? Even if its not worth $20, I'm still happy. I've never seen a yellow seal on a bill ever, and I handle roughly $2,000-$3,000 at the bar I work at every day.

Yes that's worth $20 I'd pay that in a heart beat for one usual they sell on ebay from $30-50 his grandfather got it in Italy because we made the yellow seal notes especially for Italy and North Africa just like how we made the brown seal for Hawaii the only difference is the color of the seal. It's pretty cool that you know where it came from and that who owned it.

Woobie finding a WWII Emergency Note $1 N. Africa is extremely rare find in the wild.
I'm surprised your friend would be willing to spend it even in those circumstances and especially since it belonged to his grandpops in WWII.
It is indeed worth $30-50 like Voshus mentioned.

I handle $2000+ also everyday and the best I've found is a 1957B $1 Silver cert. that's barely worth $1.50 haha.

thanks everyone for telling me what the north Africa note was. I have since researched it more and gotten the name of the grandfather and where he was stationed. someone told me it would be a nice type of pedigree for the bill or something. I also noticed you had a list of what you collect. I don't have a lot, but I do have multiple brown seals from 1929. They are almost all from boston, so a collector friend told me they were not worth that much being from a common bank.

Teller at my bank had a bundle of $2's for me last Friday. Lo and Behold what I found sitting on the bottom of the stack! It's a 1928G, just incase the photos are too grainy to make it out. Shame about the upper left corner though.

Oldest bill I have so far (this particular series was printed from the late 40s up until the series change in 1953, I believe)
