the length of words are 4,7,5,6 so the next one would be 6 letters. The alternating words start with L, J so the next letter in the sequence is H. Handle is a 6 letter word starting with H.

It is like code breaking. Ok, it IS code breaking. Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a different letter. The letter will be same throughout the entire puzzle.
Example
W=A
X=B
Y=C
Z=D

XWZ YWX = BAD CAB

This is true of standard cryptoquotes. Keep in mind that Scooby posted it so it may be more complicated than that, but I am assuming it is this simple this time.

It is a rather difficult one in my opinion. I am concentrating on JER** J*R*E*. I don't think too many combinations can fit into this area. So I'm trying different combos and seeing how they fit into the other words.
