Silver's Making A Comeback

Quickstudy - in addition to Kitco, I've saved a couple other sites to my computer to follow the precious metal market - GOLDPRICE.ORG and CNNMoney.com - good articles on both sites aswell as current price quotes.

FEMA? Aren't they the ones that dropped the ball when Katrina hit New Orleans?
I live in a trailer - don't know if the floor would support a 600 pound safe - might wake up some morning with it UNDER the trailer. I do have a small gun safe - large enough to hold my coins and gold. Don't know how it will stand up in a fire, but I'll feel better having my stuff at home. I can always sleep with a pistol by the bed to keep the boogeyman away, but few people in my little town are even aware that I collect coins let alone own some gold, so I won't be worrying too much about it - our crime rate here consists of seat belt violations and speeding tickets, and most folks don't even lock their doors when they leave home. Same thing with their cars - go to the local grocery store parking lot, walk among the cars, and you'll see the keys in the ignition in 90 percent of the vehicles. Not too bad of a little town I live in - dull as all get out, but safe.

Thanks guys for the suggestions, and info - my stuff will be coming home. TLS5933, about the trailer with the safe in it - did your friend have to reinforce the floor in some way? And, yes, I consider myself fortunate to live where I do - the town is a treasure - not to mention the fact that there are several old building on the town square, and elsewhere in the city limits that were constructed back in the 19th century. Nice place to live.

Thank you for the input about safes! I'm in the market for one myself. It will be bolted down and fire "safe" to some degree (no pun intended).

As for "growth"...I agree with you TLS5933. There is no place more evident than in the Phoenix Valley. You can drive South for 30-40 miles and there's nothing but torn up land where the desert once was. Literally, just dirt and earthmovers for miles. There is a major freeway being built here and every intersection has new shopping malls and so forth. Investors arrived last year and the housing market boomed. Now the investors are pulling out and many of the areas are dropping. I remember this Valley as beautiful desert, clear skies and not so hot. The heat alone will make it unbearable some day. There is nothing but, concrete and walls everywhere. Our open country can never be replaced or returned to it's natural state. They call this progress? With an increase in housing, population, etc. the drugs and crime rates increase also. What once were small cities, safe from intrusions are now locked down. We even have to lock our cars in our own garages! Law Enforcement does absolutely nothing for small crimes either. It's the way to keep the "numbers" down to give a better picture of the area to procure even more growth.

It looks to me like silver has broken down technically, as it has closed below its upward trend.

Does anyone have a link to a sober market analysis and commentary about silver?

I have had it with reading cheerleaders for the collapse of Western Civilization (e.g., jsmineset.com).

LOL, this is exactly how I feel too, someone is underestimating the industriousness of the American Middle class. Hard times have come before and will come again, but civilization isn't going to fail during my lifetime.
