echizento Moderator United States 23731 Posts	Posted 09/30/2010 4:46 pm This is a Maria Theresa Thaler from Austria, this coin has been used as a trade coin in East Africa and the Middle east since 1780 to the present. Your coin appears to have been well circulated, but is a recent restrike. If there were a bit more detail we would be able to pin down the date better. I have a book on the subject of the varieties of these coins. The main thing to look for is in the variations of the saltire / cross near the date.
