I picked this one up many years ago, at a bid board auction in northern Virginia. I have been thinking about putting a set of these together for many years, I only have a few right now. This thread is making me want to get more.

Echizento - Thank for the info, I guess I should pick up a good book on these. I am amazed at how much some of you know about this series.

If you are going to collect this series you should get a copy of "United States Early Half Dollar Die Varieties 1794-1836" by Donald L.Parsley. This book details most of the die varieties along with there Overaton numbers and rarity. It's the best book on this series but probably should be revised.

Thanks Moe and Aladinslamp .... that 1821 is one of my favorite coins. Another cool thing about the coin is that I paid just over $30.00 for it, back in the 80's, on a bid board auction ...
Moe ... you have quite a few I like also. And thanks for starting this thread ... I think it is my favorite thread to look at since I have been on this site.

I agree! I am still hoping to pick up one (or two) at the coin show in two weeks. I have looked at them for a long time, but I always felt a need to purchase something else to fill another hole in another album.
