Quote: While the lettered edge varieties are prefixed with an "O" for the guy who fathered the numbering system (Overton), the reeded edge are prefixed with "JR".....Jules Reiver is the guy who came up with the numbering system... This is something that I did not know! I incorrectly assumed that Overton would apply to all CBHD, but after taking a closer look at the series this month, I really see that the reeded edge is not the only difference. Like everyone else, I am going to miss this thread! I had been putting off not just acquiring, but learning about the CBHD types that I needed for my 7070. Part of my procrastination was caused by the fear that I would start to like them a lot more than the two holes I have for them. Well, my fear was well warranted; I might just have to build a set of these some day.

Quote: Well, my fear was well warranted; I might just have to build a set of these some day. I see my plan worked for this thread! I sincerely want to thank everyone who posted a coin, commented on a coin or even kept checking in to see what attribution Zeewool came up with next! With 4100 viewers of this thread, it obviously struck a very popular chord. The Capped Bust half dollars are just an absolutely fascinating series and I was glad to start this post. The coins posted were drop-dead gorgeous and amazing. When SuperDave un-stickys this, I don't plan to ask for an archive of it, and I hope everyone will continue to post their CBH acquisitions. That way we can all help with the attribution of both the Overton and the Jules Reiver varieties. (That turned out to be the most fun of this entire thread). Again thank you to all! Capped Bust Halfs Forever!

Maybe we should make this an annual event. Just saying.

OK, a deal's a deal. It's unsticky now.
This has been a wonderful thread, and I agree with Moe145 that it would make a nice "Perpetual Bust Half Dollar" thread.
