I've been trying to find out more info on this coin that I found a few months ago but so far nothing useful has come up maybe some of you can help me. What I have is a Netherlands 1878 one cent piece. What I would like to know is how rare is this particular coin? What is the possible value of it? Just to add it's not in mint condition but then again I dont think that I can expect that from a coin that has been around for 128yrs. it also has no depiction of a face but rather a Lion wearing a crown holding a sword on the one side and the one cent on the other with laurels around it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Miravelle, this 1c. coin you have was issued during the reign of King Willem III of the Netherlands (1849-90).I think that it is a common coin.Perhaps one of the members from the Netherlands can help us here.

That's the standard design for Netherlands 1¢ coins, which was largely unchanged from 1877 right up to WWII. 1878 is the year in the 19th century with the highest mintage (53 million). My 2004 Krause lists it as 50¢ in Fine, $2 in Very Fine. Uncirculated ones are only $15, so they're probably not that hard to find in high grades.

(editxd to rxmove unnexessary "X"s. )
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Sap,there were actually 2 types of the Dutch 1c. in 1901.Take a look at the Dutch word for 'Kingdom'.There are 2 different spellings.
