and the letter W with crossed swords underneath. What is throwing me off and considering this a suspect token is the color of the beaver, stars, #73 etc as they look a bit out of place as they lighter & brighter.I am not sure if this is a copy (reproduction) or the real thing. It is out of round and approx. 1 1/2 inch in size. Thoughts always appreciated. Thank you all in advance...

I was thinking the CN could stand for Canadian Northern Railroad and the 73 for engine #73.

I wonder if this is the Buyer or the seller wanting to know what it is?

You may already know this..............but tags like this were used to trade beaver pelts for items at a trade post. There are many odd things on this tag.
#1 "CN", what does it stand for? Not "HB" Hudson Bay. Not "NW" North West. Not "AFC" American Fur Co.?
#2, Most tags are made on a common number, ex: 5, 10 20, 50, 100..........Not "73", unless this is a date or a traders tag number.
#3, 13 stars?
#4, "W" w/crossed swords. Most traders took "happy" symbles as their mark,(beaver, butterfly, flower, etc...), not War symbles.

My best guess is a modern copy/fake used by someone in furtrade re-enacting/ living history. Kind of a reproduction business card!
