bryanb1, I think the gold set will go 5k range shortly and who knows in years to come. As for the silver set....maybe $500 in years to come. Just my opinion. Funny thing, after I told my wife about the gold set, she was like...you should of bought one....UHHG....wish she would of told me that the day before.

I believe that coin collecting can be both an investment and fun. I personally don't spend a ton of money on my own collection but if I see a coin I believe will go up in value soon I'll buy it. I decided to get a silver set and don't see it going down in value soon so I see it as a reasonably safe investment.

I only wish I could afford a gold set. I might get a silver set though. They've got 250,000 slated, so hopefully they won't run out too fast.

I knew the gold set would go through the roof.

Problem is, I don't have that kind of money to spend.

Oh well, we did manage to order a silver set.

I will be surprised if this set sells out any time soon. There are just too many of them for the number of people who insist on having complete sets of ALL silver eagles minted. They more than likely missed out on the 95W and therefore don't see the need to have all these specially minted coins.
I also see this set as holding it's current price and maybe adding a little bit over time, but not to the same amount as the 95W.

Anybody considering getting these graded in a multi coin holder when they received their shipment?

I've just zipped thru this entire thread (whew!) and didn't catch anyone mentioning what to me is a big deal here...the Uncirculated gold and siver eagles with the W mintmark...anyone remember the I think it was 96W on unc gold planchets? this is an unusual occurance which I think ranks up there with the reverse proofs. And by the way, anyone with a set going will also have to have it. Did anyone notice you can get all the varieties with only the set of 3 gold and set of 3 silver? Don't need to buy the gold and silver combo.

In closing, I have to give a nod to those infernal usmint marketers...they keep coming up with increasingly expensive offerings...anyone totaled up what it would cost for all issues for 2006, including the platinum of course...how in the world can anyone keep up with it financially? Don't forget next year those ridiculous president's wives gold rounds come out!

Best regards to all,
Dennis

Yes,the Mint has gained control of my mind and I need re-hab.What would be the best option on those dollars? Should I buy them with the hopes that they will be rejected by the public or save my money and purchase "error" Statehood Quarters that somehow "slip" out? And blast the person who decided to make the Mint Sets in satin, again this year. The women in the recorded message,at the Mint, is also in on it.
