you know I was kidding I hope.
just as an explanation as to my confusion for guess 30. I had two things wrong. I had a subset of currencies that was wrong and I had a rotation error (I counted two guesses with the same rotation). In other words I missed a rotation so when I was fumbling my way through the options I could not get past the fact I had 6 possible currencies after guess 30. All caused by a dumb mistake.
OK, now I have a question. If one of the five currencies goes in to the ghost mode how does one account for that on a guess not in the original position

OK, so I guess that is a subtly I missed. We are not really trying to guess 5, we are really trying to guess 8 so that there is always 5 in the proper order on every rotation. So hypothetically speaking, if I thought I knew the 5 that were in the original order that does me no good unless I can get that guess into the proper rotation as it comes around. I really need to know the three ghost currencies as well. Do I have that right?

That is right. You're looking to know all 8. If you know only 5, you have to wait through 8 rotations to come back to that position. And then hope nobody cuts you off!

OK, now it is beginning to make more sense to me - I know I'm slow but sometimes I surprise myself as to how slow... It makes a lot more sense that I had 6 possible because there are actually 8  |

Wow, this looks like a real interesting round of mastermind. Sorry I missed it but I've been working hard. I won't step in now although the 5 have not been found yet. Someone was pretty close with the 4/4 and I would not feel right after all the work others have put into this.
This working for a living really stinks.

you could help out other guys by "throwing yourself under the bus", in words of GO, and placing some obscure guesses. The more feedback they get the sooner they'll nail it.
