This shop where I have bought silver is kind of a high-brow place. On days that they are busy, they have a rent-a-cop at the door. There are always several to many customers in there and it's not a large shop. I have no problem asking the guard to escort me to my vehicle when I've carried out $1k+ in coins.

Tell him to take a hike and that dinosaurs like him will go out of business with tactics like that. It still blows my mind how many coin dealers can know a lot about coins, but nothing about how to run a business and develop and maintain a client base. I don't know a lot about coins, but I could do a much better job of marketing and building client relationships than this chump....

I would like to buy from a coin shop where I am being treated like a fellow collector and not a client. IMO, Big buck stores like these that nickel and dime the client will not do that good long term!

I've gotten to where I almost always get below melt, shipped, whether online or here. If a dealer tried to charge me a sorting fee, I'd hand the coins back to him and never shop them again.

Any kind of sorting fee is ridiculous. Whether it's $1 or $10, this is not a good business practice. I would have passed on the deal and went elsewhere.

I checked with APMEX, and the same amount of Kennedys with a 75 cent per oz. price drop right now would still have cost $542, not including shipping. Ouch.
