Good call re: Admin's and other moderators' actions. I certainly don't tolerate rants and raves in the forums I moderate, especially when the posts get personal. And I'm amazed at how experts on Internet forum administration come out of the woodwork and pontificate and insult those who spend as much time as they do keeping a forum organized, professional, and educational ... especially this one.

Yeah, and it shouldn't be all that difficult to realize when you've actually stepped in it.

Quote: there are plenty of forums that would be happy to hear their rants and raves but this is not one of them Right--and that's what I appreciate about CCF. People come here for constructive discussion, and thanks to capable moderation--it's the norm.

Dude I have had half a dozen or so topics moved over the last 2+ years. It happens, get over it. When mine are moved I say to myself, Oh OK, and move on from there because it is always for a good reason. Well good enough for me I guess.

Someone need to pull his big boy paints up and apologize for acting like a weeny. This is still the best place to discuss and learn about our hobby and the rules are there for a very good and logical reason.

Think about this... If we (the moderators) did not do our job, ensuring that posts are in the appropriate forum, then there would be no need for all of the forum categories! The categories exist because not everyone is interested in all topics. If you "hang around" one forum, say 'Modern US coins', but want to talk about a classic US coin, then you need to venture out of your comfort zone. It is quite possible that what you have to say about finding a nice Morgan dollar will not interest many modern coin collectors, but the classic collectors would love to see the post on it in the 'Classic US coins' forum! As for the case being discussed by the OP, his topic was broad. It may have included references to modern coins, but it was a broad topic on many coins and could not fit nicely into one category. Therefore, it was moved to the ' Main Coin Forum' for the broader audience.

I'm admin of a forum with over 600,000 registered members. I sympathize with the CCF staff here and know exactly what you go through on a daily basis. It's amazing some of the demands from members. Some people think they know what is best and insist you follow their instructions to the letter.
Donators are can be especially bad because they believe they've "bought" or something and will remind you at every turn "I've donated"..."I donated"... when they want their way.
I get private messages from members every day insisting I amend the rules, add sub forums, ban members they don't like, etc, etc.... and get insulted when I don't do what they say.
You simply can't please everyone and it's not worth the aggravation. Not everyone is going to get along with everyone.
I like it here and you're doing a great job.
