mysterious_dr_x, can you quantify that certainty?

Well, if I was really intent on making 100% sure it won't be recounted, I could always destroy the coin, but then I'd have to look for another one, and I'm hunting for enough things as it is. We'll have to compose with a little incertainty on my data :P

@ SPP-Ottawa,

All serious dealers and collectors know that the " TRENDS " of Canadian Coin News ( CCN ) is an estimate of retail pricing of items listed.

I beleive that all data, from four site, obtained since 2009, give us a " TREND " for the variety " 5 cents 1932 Far 2 ".

I completely agree, that you have a population estimate and a trend for this variety. Your hard work is to be applauded. Your information, however, is not what we formally call "statistics"... perhaps the true meaning was lost in the translation... You are presenting data, not statistics.

I think the promotion should continue and you should seriously consider writing an article for the CN Journal, on this variety. If writing a scholarly-style paper in English is a bit of a hurdle, then I can think of several members of the Ottawa Numismatic Society (they are also Numicanada members) who would gladly offer to help, some of whom are also members of this coin forum (e.g., mysterious_dr_x). Since you put in all the hard work, you should be the one to write the paper, and get the credit for doing so.

SPP - Give up, he doesn't get your point!

Also, my degree is in Statistics (and Actuarial Science), and I would qualify that it would be okay to double/triple count... if the far 2s are just as likely to be counted twice/thrice, but I'm sure all finders of far 2s have pulled them.

@ SPP-Ottawa,

No problem to let fall the term statistic : this is not my aim with this topic.

Thank for your suggestion about an article on this subject : I will consider this.

@ jg86,

You have a nice coin ( page 6 on this topic ), 5 cents 1932 Far 2. If you will agree to obtain the certification of this coin by ICCS, I think that this collaboration would be a nice start to initiate an article concerning the variety Far 2.

From all data, on this site, I note ONLY one (1) coin of the variety 5 cents Far 2, from a total of 286 coins of 5 cents 1932 ( 285 Near 6 ).

If these variety ( 5 cents 1932 Far 2 ) is scarce, where are the others coins of this variety

I need more data !

I hope more data of 5 cents 1932 varieties ( Near 2 and Far 2 ) , from members of coincommunity, to confirm the actual trend.
