On coppercoins.com there are three listing for the these dies. You might check there:

I have a theory about these dies. I feel they edited a 1948 hub and made a few different dies. After thought because of shortage of dies? Anyway here is what I feel happened:

Coop is right - this is indeed a design hub doubled die - class 3. They bring pretty decent money in nice grades.

I have only been collecting for a little bit. I had no idea this hub double was real. I believe I have some at home. Can't wait to check when I get back from Afghanistan. Two more weeks baby. Thank you jbuj - Same for you and Godspeed getting back safely.

There are currently three different dies known with this anomaly. If you check any normal 1948S cent you will see the round pointed top 4 in the date, and any normal 1949S will have a square top 4. These doubled dies are yet to be completely explained, but they are a mix of the two different hub types. It is believed that a 1948 hub was modified to remove the last digit of the date and was used in hubbing 1949 dies. Only three that we know of so far were affected, and all of them are relatively scarce.

Check coppercoins.com, 'die variety search,' enter 1949 in the first date field, check 's', and submit. You'll see all three of them together.
