Hey, does looking like Richard Nixon count? The previous monarchs didn't look like him. Is that a tradition?

Wikipedia:
An effigy is a representation of a person

That is what they call the image on the obverse in catalogs I have.
I know, I know, English is not my native language, maybe it was too ambitious an undertaking for me! I was trying to express the questions as clearly as I could.

Your English is perfect in this case. The entire English numismatic population calls it an effigy. But that does not mean it is correct. Just like calling our steel pennies magnetic. They are not, just try sticking one of those to your fridge.

Queen Victoria wore the Imperial State Crown instead of St. Edward Crown.
Edward VIII faced left instead of right.

Queen Elizabeth :The crowned effigy was essentially used in "colonies" while the uncrowned was used in self-governing dominions. She is both crowned and uncrowned in some self-governing dominions.

Have to say no, interesting choice of words. You didn't actually say that my answer was wrong.

That's ok svslav, I am just having fun with you. I am personally impressed that it took you so long to determine whether or not it was an acceptable answer. Wrong, but still proud, I am.

I never got an answer to my Nixon question. I bet that is #3.
I'm off to bed now. I need to pick up my wife at work in the morning and I don't think I'll be here tomorrow night if I'm still sleeping when she gets out.

Good luck all!

Ok, here goes nothing
Victoria: first usage of crowns in portrait
Edward VII: nothing on head for UK (not crowns, not laurel wreath)
Elizabeth II: Portrait of Coronation Crown riding a horse

as rickando states it is late...
