Zaires is plural of zaire. Scooby already tried that.

The nation of Whatchamacallit had a currency of Whatchamacallit's until 1971. They now use Thingamabob's.

Since clarifying questions are allowed, I would like to post one in an effort to further confuse those not yet disqualified. If I'm lucky you won't even answer it and leave them guessing.
Agreed I add one letter, but do the existing letters remain in their current order? eg, Persia might have used Saphire.

And I may choose not to answer a clarification question. To be fair to people who are out of the loop for tonight (nobody's disqualified - nobody broke the rules) I don't want to answer this directly. I'll just say - if you're in doubt, read the question again.
