Scoreboard:

weavus135 - 1 point

I'm using Tour de France color scheme - leader wears a yellow jersey.

Next question - much shorter - is going up tonight at 11.

Speaking of rubles and decimalization, Russian ruble was the first decimal currency in the world, it happened in 1704.

Would have been a good trivia question if it weren't just one google click away.

Hey, docs, that's the other way around - you need to remove a letter from the country's name. Thanks for trying!

The quiran was the currency of Iran between 1825-1932. Iran now uses rial.

Darn English lesson made me put a 'U' where it didn't belong. Reposted.

Scooby, when (one of the two) Congo was Zaire, the currency for a while was zaire as well, no extra letters.

rikcando, quiran - Iran, looks to me like it's two letter difference!

I already reposted with it spelt right.

I almost said the Afghan Afghani, but realized it is called Afghanistan.

OK, rikcando, I checked it had a bunch of spellings, including qiran.

But,
Quote:
The name Iran has been in use natively since the Sassanian era and came into use internationally in 1935, before which the country was also known to the western world as Persia

In these ambiguous situations the house gets the trick! So, No!

I reposted quickly when I realized my typo, before you saw it, but if you want to disqualify it since my first answer was wrong I'll completely understand.
