I found the news releases from the mint to be ambiguous on the bottom double date being issued for circulation so emailed them and received a reply that they were issued for circulation. No one else agrees with this and I am going to write the mint directly since they have removed the email option to them regarding issues such as this (or so it seems when you try to do so). I am coming to believe that you are all correct but want to confirm this for my own piece of mind.

Sorry to dredge up an older thread, I have found this site a couple times when trying to find some information, and signed up before - but I can't recall if I've ever posted before...

Aanyway I have been continuing to look for a couple different toonies and today on a whim I grabbed a roll from the bank.

In that roll I believe I found a non-circulation, somewhat scarce toonie;
I found a 2000 non-knowledge non-W toonie - this one's been circulated for a while, but still wow...

Has anyone ever figured out what this particular coin's mintage is supposed to be?

Considering THIS link suggests that the total 'regular' & 'W' mintage to be at 186,986 - and the one I was looking for has a mintage of 1,531,000(2012 old design) - I seemed to have hit the virtual jack-pot!
(too bad that in it's shape, it probably will not ever be worth anything).

My mother has been saving the 2000 toonie with the polar bear and cubs because someone told her they would be valuable one day. Any truth to this?

probably not.
value can generally be attributed to three variables:
1) metal content
2) production scarcity
3) production error

The regular production/circulation '00 toonie has none of these.
