Old NGC and PCGS holders generate tremendous interest in the States. Can the same be said of old ICCS holders in Canada? Crackouts and gradeflation have diminished the number of these holders considerably, but I can't say that there's been a commensurate spike in premiums placed on the old holders. What's everyone's experience?

edit: let's keep the "buy the coin, not the holder" commentary to a minimum. That goes without saying.

I prefer the 2 letter ICCS holders, especially the older of the two.

I have over two ICCS boxes full of them.

They are graded a little stricter than the newer ICCS coins but nothing is guaranteed and sometimes I even find overgraded ones in the older flips.

As for a monetary premium....slight at best, but not substantial as with the US TPG slabs.

Can't say I've noticed any systemic difference between the older and newer gradings. Noticeable instances of under grading, over grading or outright errors seem to occur rarely but evenly in both. Although I have noticed an upswell in the claiming of a difference by sellers pushing the old 2 letter holders the last couple of years. ;-) We have both in our collection of course and sometimes I've swapped out a 2 letter holder for a nicer coin at the same grade in a 3 letter holder and sometimes it's been the other way around. I've handled about 6k coins in ICCS holders in the last decade or so since I started keeping detailed records of each one. I would also mention though that I'm quite leery of lower grade Canadian coins (F-AU) in old PCGS holders while some of our nicest Canadian coins are in newer PCGS high grade slabs which is the opposite of what you're saying in the OP for US coins.
