Well Kefiroth they're not all bad.
I can understand them not recognising the prez dollars
as it appears they are just gimmicks made for collectors, do away with the paper dollar and
the public will get acquainted with them. Of course they should get a clue when they read the coin.
What really bugs me is that NO ONE can give change without looking at the register and seeing what is to be returned.

I don't see any reason why anyone would switch to pres dollars.

They are cheap to make and Life exp is 30 years only one that benifits is the u.s govt
and the people are left with the hassle of lugging around bags of dollar coins

Wow... I manage a retail store currently, and we've had some people use dollar coins/ JFK halves, and one of my cashiers has definitely called me over to determine if it was "legal tender"... sure enough the customer had a decent chuckle.

Some of the older styles though, I can understand why some youngsters might question them... No one uses them!

While it may be sad or funny, ignorance is not a crime. Bring your Red Book with you next time and educate her. You never know, she might take an interest in the coins she has access to every day.

anyway, I've got a slightly uneducated gaggle of tellers at one of my dump banks and I've neglected to educate them for the reason that they actually want me to bring them all the half dollars I have. I'm talking 4-5 grand at once, and they have no problem with it whatsoever.

last week when I was turning them in, they were looking at the ends and saying 'oh man look there are a bunch of bicentennials in this one' and asking me if I was sure I wanted to sell them to the bank.

That is hilarious. I spent a Sacagawea dollar and the lady didnt think they were american. (She was at least 60 years old)
It is sad that these new generations will have no respect to the United States money with it all being electronic. I am 19 and just got a credit card. I do not like using the credit card. That means I get no change from my 20 or 50. No looking through dollar bills and coins. It is sad. I even dont like using my University card even though it has money on it for food. But I want to cause I get 30% off of food.
