I'm not sure if anyone ever posts a "State of the Collection" topic but I like the idea so here is where I am with my quest to complete a Wheat centset. All cents were found roll searching and in change received. I've been at it since mid-January 2011: 1910 1914 1916 1918 1919 1919-S 1920 1920-D 1925 1926 1927 1928 1928-D 1929 1929-D 1930 1934 1935 1935-D 1935-S 1936 1936-S 1937 1937-D 1938 1939 1941 1942 1943-Steal 1944-S 1945 1946 1946-D 1948-S 1949 1953 1953-S 1954-D 1955-D 1956 1956-D 1957 1958-D Thanks for checking out my progress. Take care all!

Very nice progress for one month Timmy! You can see my roll searched set in Bad Thad's lincoln post, and also my Canadian from U.S. circulation finds.

I would like to question you on that 1943... Where and from whom? Cooperate and I cut your sentence down to community service.

Wow that is a remarkable jump from circulation, especially all the pre-1940s. Surprised you didn't get 1944 P yet, that one was my most common one from circulation, followed by 56, 57, 58

I've found every Philly coin up until the 1930's in circulation so far... it's the D's and S's that are proving very challenging, which is only compounded by my proximity to Philadelphia. Got the full set from 1938 and on, though, now just a matter of filling out the earlier dates. I doubt I'll ever find the major rarities in circulation, though.

1914 is a tough date even to find in a bag. The higher grade ciculated examples are finally starting to show this with their values popping way up ahead of a lot of the other early P mint cents. That one probably surprises me the most out of that list.

I'm guess the reason I am finding mostly P mint marks Is due to the volume prodeced there. Are there any other Reasons? Proximity etc?

Proximity definitely matters. About 75% of what I look at is Philly minted, and I live about 30 minutes max from the mint.

Pretty amazing you found those over such a short period. Agree with Chuck, the 1914 is a suprizing find....then so is the 1910.
Eventually, you'll be forced into buying to fill holes. Searching only get you so far.
Good Luck!

That is really good for $200 searched. My list is a little longer with a few more S-mints, but I've been through $1200. Good to hear what coppercoins said about the 1914 as I found one too...but think I may have sent it to another member already...ah well.

you're doing great for such a short time. I'm two years into my 09-40 set in "Good" with some "fines" mixed in.
I'm missing the expensive ones. 09svdb, 09s, 10s, 11s, 12d, 12s,13s,13d,14d,14s,15s(my next buy),22d, 24d, 26s, 31d & 31s.
Roll searching has been hit and miss for early dates, no 43 yet but I have a bunch of them from my f I l collection.
I did find a 18 road kill in the parking lot where I work last week.I wonder how that got there?
good luck with the continuing search.

Davest did you put the road kill into your set if you had a hole there? Or do you generally toss out rough coins even if there is a hole in your set in hopes one in better condition will pop up? I keep the bad ones until I find a better one

Here's my circulation pull set, it dates back to childhood, but there was a large gap in there from about 1996-1997 to 2010 where I really wasn't looking to hard... the follies of childhood and teenage years...
Anyways, here's what I've found in circulation over the years;
1909-VDB 1909 1910 1911 1911-S 1912 1913 1913-D 1914 1915 1915-D 1916 1916-D 1916-S 1917 1917-S 1918 1919 1919-S 1920 1921-S 1923 1924 1924-S 1925 1926 1927 1928 1928-D 1928-S 1929 1929-S 1930 1930-D 1934 1935 1935-D 1936 1936-D 1937 1938 1938-D
I have everything that's 1939 and later.
