I don't think that's a gouge as the "W" is still intact, it looks to be just a scuff mark.

In the end, the choice is up to you. I don't really care one way or the other as to what you end up doing. I was just trying to correct your misconceptions about this particular coin. You seem to know what you want.

Hate to argue with you, but G4's sell routinely for $850 - $900. $1100 can buy a G6. Your prices are a bit high...... Johnny got a '16D Merc in VG for only $1200. There is no way a G4 is going to be just $100 less than a VG8. Plus the NN price list, Numismaster, and te Red Book show the coin at only $1,000 in G4. I'm sure if I asked some guys on my site they'll probably back me up.
