Quote: I asked is because the mint said it is a numismatic version Yep that's what they say. And what makes it a numismatic version? It will have a slightly lower mintage, a P mintmark, and a much higher initial price.

The 2011's are also 3 inch not 2.5 inch. Quote: they said that the 2011 ms 3"5oz silver coins will have a mintage of 150k more coins than the 2010 sets witch will increase the 2010 coins value and demand in the coming years. The mintage of the 2011's has no effect on the value of the 2010's. The only thing that affects the value of the 2010's is how many people want them and how eagerly they desire them. The only way the mintage of the 2011's affects the 2010's is to the extent that if you had the chance to buy only one of them, more people would want the 2010 becaus it has the lower mintage.

Higher mintage later years may add value to the earlier ones by widening the collector base for the series. If all years have only 33k sets, then fewer collectors out there to try to build a series to bid up the price of any particular year.

Quote: Nothing really except their numismatic market value versus their precious metal market value. There's $155 worth of metal in them but the numismatic market has them at double that value - even ungraded. All that means is that over time, you're gonna lose that $155 premium. If silver doubles, these won't; if it stays where it's at, these will drop to that price as people ask themselves why they wanted to collect a coin that never circulated and is awkward to display, store, etc. Anyone here collect Panama $20?

Todays artical in Coin World mentions the mint lifting the terms and conditions of the AP's having to sell out there 2010 allotment before they can acquire the 2011 5oz sets.

That Coin World article is interesting. I read it as the Mint is now allowing the APs to do as they wish and sell these to other dealers or the public at market rates, not bullion rates.

Thats a strategic way to get people to buy the sets now before the ap's do as they wish. 2011's have a higher mintage so the ap's will probably lift the one per house hold limit and open the flood gates for being able to buy them whenever instead of two hour sales like the 2010's

There will be no terms & conditions imposed on the 2011 ATB 3"5oz silver bullion coins the ap's can sell them to there employees and other coin dealers at a price that the ap determines without mint restrictions per the Mint director of public affairs, said on March 9th.this is probably do to the higher mintage of 2011 ATB 5oz coins http://numismaster.com/ta/numis/Art...icleId=18434Also the mints 2010 & 2011(p)numismatic collectors version will be sold by individual design these will sell out within 24 hours imo.
