I am up to almost 11 grams of pure 24K gold and 52 oz of silver(I also just added 2004 lunar 1 oz silver monkey an 2006 1 oz silver dog in transit an I have 6 of the 12 in lunar set now), and I have added 6 of the 3/4 gram worlds smallest Liberia coins, via Lindbergh, Caesar, Nefertiti, Columbus, Joan of Arc (only one I have ever seen thus far), and finally Napoleon. Here is pictures via links below.... I also have a 1/20 Chinese Panda gold 2011, and an Isle of cat 1/25 1989, and a statue of Liberty 1 gram Pamp, and a 2.5 gram Pamp.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWNX:IThttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWNX:IThttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWNX:IThttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWNX:IThttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWNX:ITLastly, of the 6 3/4 gram coins, I have 275 in them so 46 a coin on average. I don't wanna do the math on the rediculous premiums on an oz and I am sure one of you may, but 46 on average for a pure gold coin of 3/4 gram is the best I can find, and about all I can afford....

You are paying a premium of about $500 per ounce. However some gold coins sell for a premium higher than that considering their gold content. If you are liken what you are see and can afford it carry on. We all have had to satisfy a desire we had. Advise didn't matter anyway. Have fun.

I am rather hard headed lol, and with that being said I do take most advice into account very carefully, but with these I like them as a collector, and I can sell in a nice set perhaps one day. I like putting sets together for me an others to enjoy one day. I don't plan on buying just the 3/4 gram from now on in gold form, as I get into my busier season at work, I will be able to afford 1 10 oz coins and maybe even a 1/4 oz one here or there....

coin chaser has a good point. this is a hobby, something you spend money on for your personal enjoyment. If you pay $200 for some coins because they give you $200 worth of happiness, then if they sell later for $100, you've come out $100 ahead.
If you spent $200 for a night on the town, I hope you got $200 in enjoyment, but you'll never get any additional money from that.

Yes Biggfredd, as silly as it sounds, even if I break even on an item, or even loose a little down the road, it is money I would not have if I went out on the town and blew 200 and had nothing to show for it the next day. So might not be the wisest choice to maximize my spending, via as much as I can get, but at least a am building a little net worth, one piece at a time and having a ball doing it....

If you spend $200 and don't at least have a hangover or tattoo to show for it the next day, you're doing it wrong.

I have read a couple places, if you are looking toward investing, or backing your 401k up with something Just in case, it's good to take your total spending cache, cut in half , and buy both gold and silver. I have also had 5,000k bought a golden eagle , and the rest silver, both dollars and bars from US mint. also, My father, ( 96 and sharp as can be) has been watching the market for a few years, LOL. as long as the economy is in the tank, precious metals will continue to stay high. all the unrest in the Mid east, and now the disaster in Japan, will drive it a little higher. It will stay there until we stop printing money and let the dollar gain back some value. I wish I would have bought gold two years ago when this started, can't afford much now, and it should top out at around 1,500 an ounce. so if your going to buy, do it soon, watch for a dip and be ready to make the call. Now silver, thats a different story. My guess is it's gonna go up a bunch. also Palladium could be a good buy in a week or so. Until Japan gets back up and running, it should drop, hold for like 8 years and you should make a nice little bit. It's used in computers, TV's and cars. what do you think of my view. any and all thoughts welcome.

For a point of information there is a listing on ebay for 14K gold commemorative coins, 3.36 grains for $6-8 dollars. The seller's listing is under Mason-$. FYI LOL

I personally wouldn't get any 14k coins and wouldn't get smaller than 1/10th of an oz gold. When it becomes smaller than that, the coins are super tiny. 1/10th and 1/4th oz gold coins and bars have just the right heft and size :)

1/10 and lower is a bit small for me. I got clumsy fingers so no doubt I'd lose em as soon as I step out of the coin store!
I'm slowly saving up for 1/4 gold maples. Premiums are ok for me, and its just bout the right size I think. might have to work it out so its one month gold, then the next month the white stuff.

Ignore what "they say" and collect what you enjoy.
