Silverhawk you are working at a fine collection. You will receive a double reward. Pride in doing what you want to do and the opportunity to show your personal collection. LOL

If you buy gold please make sure you have a real reason for buying... - CoinChaser

I'm curious. What would constitute a "real" reason, in your opinion?

Thanks Junior e and Coin chaser appreciate the kind words! It is fun part of the hobby for me anyway, to try to put together sets, as I am working on Australian lunar silver set of 12 as well, and have 8 so far....

I do like that the prices for these 3/4 has not gone up, even though gold has been sky rocketing....

I am actually going to take your advice Coin chaser, and switch to the 1/10 gold eagle next. Only reason I have not thus far has been lack of cash funds, but we are getting into our busy season so I am making good money again, at least on nice and sunny weekends anyhow. And there is like 5 or 6 real nice 1/10th eagles at my local coin shop, and I can still get them for about 190. Of Course that will not last long, as it will not be long, until it is impossible to find a 1/10 gold eagle short of 200 bucks....

Sounds like what other investors call "due diligence". Buy gold because you thought things through and found it to be a better thing to buy than the alternatives, whatever they may be, not just because "everybody's doing it".

ED B, Originally in this thread I wrote concerning frenzy buying and some of the overpriced offers that were cropping up on the net. A prudent man would evaluate the value of a purchase if he was buying as a hedge against inflation. A collector looks, sees what he wants or likes and buys it for his collection. Both these men are winners as their desire is satisfied. One knows the value of the interms money and the other interms of a collection. They both had a real reason for buying.

CoinChaser... I see... buying vs. simply throwing money at it.

As a long-term buyer who buys in small amounts but at reasonably regular intervals, price is not something that I focus on. If it is lower than I thought, I can buy a little more or a little less if it is not. I figure that over a 15-20 year period, it will pretty well average out. Works for me.

Well Alexander the great showed up and it is as real gem. Really like these little guys, great detail on small scale....

I have 3 that are minus COA and the neat little round plastic capsule with the little four plastic bars which hold the coin in place....

Does anyone know where I could buy some of these small 3/4 gram plastic capsules, as I can't find them on ebay?
