During roll searching today I found this 1947 cannadian cent with a leaf after the date but I saw was kind of odd because I have about 10 other coins with same date and none of them carrie this leaf after the date like the one I found today . So I wonder if is a variety ? Anybody with knowledge in cannadian coin to tell what's going on in here ?! I would like to know if is just a stamp after the mint PMD or really is a variety (I would prefer to be a discovery lol ) I appreciate any help please ! Here is couple different coins from the same date without the leaf just so you guys can see what I'm talking about I have many with no leaves on it so is the one with the lead rare ? If is not PMD what about the mintage ? Thanks in advantage <<Moved to more appropriate forum by the Staff>>Edited by Ricardocody 03/05/2011 4:28 pm

You really should post this in the Canadian Coin forum ... no clue what this question has to do with Modern US coins? Anyways ... the 1947 with Maple Leaf cent was actually minted in 1948 as the Canadian Mint was preparing new dies for their cent coins following the independence of India. Here is a typical thread that can be found with a quick search of the forum archives: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...PIC_ID=44100David

Mintage for both the blunt and pointed 7 1947 Maple Leaf is 43,855,448. This is about 40% higher than the regular 1947, and about 80% higher than the total of 1948 varieties.

Slightly offended by mis-spelling Canada, when the coin has the proper spelling right on it.

Charlton has 3 varieties 1947, 1947 Maple leaf, 1947 Dot listed. I have coin manage software for my collection and they have the following listed dot, maple leaf high and far, maple leaf high and near, maple leaf low, normal date. I have attached picture of how they show the different ones in the software. I only have the normal date and maple leaf high and near.
