What do you guys think these coins are worth? I have been looking for a nice 1932 s and I thought this combo deal looked good at the right price. What grades to you think these coins would get from pcgs? Thanks guys

It's hard to tell the grade with how he took the pictures from odd angles, but as far as I can tell they look problem free and you can expect the bid to go much, much higher.

I don't know much about grading coins but I do know these coins are vary valuable and would GUESS the S would rate in at least MS-58, or maybe higher!

I don't know much about grading coins either but I know enough to know that there is no such thing as MS-58.

The angle of all the photographs concerns me. It is very difficult to see the details. If I was considering purchasing these quarters I would ask for additional photographs.

I thought that was strange too. Maybe he saying it's a "Slider"? I would clarify his statement before bidding.

Hard to tell with the pics. I think the S is an MS coin. The D is not.

Only because you basing that on the -70 point system. Now in the -100 point system that is possible. And in the digital point system it could be a -57.9973

And even higher than that.

After a quick glance they look ok, but before I purchase them, I would want a close up of each mintmark to see if it was added afterwards. The way he took the pictures is strange as there is no large, full obverse/reverse picture, or any close up of the mint marks. I also don't like when people add descriptions of where the coin came from or why it's not graded. To me, that makes it sound like you are trying cover up something, although I am aware this is often not the case. Here, he says where they came from, his personal collection, and why they aren't graded. Perhaps he's just trying to be comprehensive or explain why such high grade, key date coins aren't slabbed (not that they have to be).

Anyways, I would request close up pics of each mintmark, or I would pass.

I don't like the pics at all...and usually wouldn't bid unless it were very cheap. Return policy is good if you know what you're doing.

Thanks guys he offered me the coins for $550 through paypal directly, but something just felt wrong about them. The 1932 s really looks nice though. So we'll see, but would you think it is worth $550.

I agree with BadThad, the lack of ANY mint luster for a high end AU coin suggests it's been cleaned. It might have been MS, but the cleaning took care of that. The D is maybe a VF-20 if that. $550 is way too much for those pair of quarters. Even at the bid price of $406 is too much. Yes, pass.

When you photograph at those sharper angles, it tends to hide hairline scratches and other imperfections that may have been caused from cleaning or other handling. I learned that lesson once from a coin that I purchased. Luckily, the seller had a return policy and honored it.
