just_carl: that sounds like my kind of collection

Actually most people end up doing that anyway so why not just start collecting everything at the start. Probably most coin collectors started with PENNIES (Cents), then moved to Nickels or Dimes. Eventually to Quarters, Halves, etc. At first the recent ones then the older and older ones.
Why wait? Start collecting any coin you can afford and like.
People will always recommend their favorite coin for you but probably most collect all kinds of coins anyway. So just do the same.
